Roy Borges shares on page 10 how Christ made the difference in his life. God’s love and His Word, combined with Roy’s trust in God’s love and His Word, enabled Roy to be fruitful and maintain peace in a barren and lonely land.

While Roy served his 31-year prison sentence, he sought the wisdom of God daily. He does the same now, as a free man. God has never failed Roy, and He won’t fail you, either.

Roy lives by Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

What three things does this proverb teach you to do?

1) ________ 2) ________ 3) ________

If you do those things, what will God do?

Let’s go deeper.

TRUST GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Release your desire to control and understand your situation. Trust that God’s got your back. He will intervene on your behalf. Identify a situation that is burdening your soul. Now, pray (talk to God) and give it to Him. Say, “God, I need your help with _____. I trust You will provide.”

DON’T DEPEND ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING. God’s wisdom won’t always match yours. It takes courage, faith, and commitment to set aside your instinct and intellect and trust God’s instead. Is your mind busy trying to figure something out?

SEEK GOD’S WILL IN ALL YOU DO. Give God access to every aspect of your life so He can help you avoid the traps of the world and Satan. God reveals His will through His Word and His Spirit. He will never lead you contrary to His Word. What does God’s Word and His Spirit have to say about your situation? Do you spend time in the Word so He can speak to you?

God promises to give you direction in every area of your life. Just ask. Fill in your name and take to heart this promise. He says:

“Trust Me, __________. I will never fail you. You don’t need all the answers to move forward. Rest in My love for you. Keep seeking My will—I will reveal it in due time and show you which way to go.”
