Who do Victorious Living Ministries serve, and how?
Our ministry primarily serves the corrections community through our Victorious Living Magazine, care team, national facility tours, wellness programs, bilingual broadcasts on facility tablets, and our correspondence program. Below is a description of each outreach and answers to commonly asked questions.
- Victorious Living Magazine
VLMag is a bilingual, full-color quarterly publication filled with first-person testimonies of the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. Our stories are a lifeline of hope to those living in darkness and a reminder that God is alive and active in the lives of anyone who would call out to Him. This magazine is a tool God uses to find those locked away from the world and otherwise unreachable by the public.
Our magazine also contains articles connecting our readers to Christ-centered re-entry and discipleship resources, trauma-informed care, addiction recovery tools, and mental health support. The magazine is available in bulk shipments, free of charge, upon request from any facility, with or without staples. It is also available digitally on prison tablets and to people in free society through our website. We no longer send copies to individuals in correctional facilities due to mail room restrictions.
Our ministry partners also receive personal copies of our magazine each quarter as a thank-you for their support of our ministry. They, too, can order bulk shipments for their personal ministry efforts.
- Care Team
Through our ministry line, our care team provides prayer support to currently and formerly incarcerated people, their families, and correctional staff, as well as connections to resources and programs provided by our ministry partners.
- Bilingual Broadcasts on Prison Tablets
Each week, Victorious Living uploads new content uniquely created for the incarcerated to digital platforms on prison and jail tablets. Through our programming, we provide mental health support and addiction recovery tools, trauma-informed care, and Christian discipleship. These Christ-centered videos impact millions annually.
- National Facility Tours and Wellness Programs
Our ministry holds approximately 100 in-person prison and jail events nationwide for the incarcerated a year. We also offer on-site wellness programs for correction officers and chaplains. These events and programs are at the request of the facility’s warden, chaplain, or program director. - Correspondence Outreach
Victorious Living Correspondence Outreach offers ongoing personal communication between an incarcerated person and our ministry. Correspondence through handwritten letters is one way we can carry out God’s command to remember the prisoner and make disciples of nations.
Are there volunteer opportunities with Victorious Living Ministries?
Yes, there are many volunteer opportunities, including corresponding with the incarcerated, joining our prison/jail event team, being an ambassador for the ministry, assisting with administrative work, and helping with community events. Contact our office at 352-478-2098 or email admin@vlmag.org for more information and to begin the application process.
How is Victorious Living Ministries financed?
Our non-profit organization is partner-supported through a national base of individuals, churches, businesses, family foundations, and grants. Donations are tax-deductible.
How does Victorious Living Ministries help my church?
This outreach helps the church fulfill Jesus’ mandate to visit prisoners by providing proven and practical ministry tools in a safe environment. It also:
- gives senior adults a ministry where they feel included and effective,
- encourages a connection between your church and a locally released incarcerated person for further support and discipleship,
- offers an opportunity for your church members to share their personal stories of God’s faithfulness in our magazine,
- presents an opportunity for your church to sow into good soil, joining God at work in an incredibly fruitful ministry that is growing daily, and
- provides a prison ministry that your church can adopt as its own.
Are there ways my church or I can help?
Our greatest need is financial support. Perhaps your church would consider supporting VLM through its mission budget. We are missionaries to the nation of corrections, and the field is ripe for harvest!
Your church can sponsor local jails or prisons to receive cases of Victorious Living Magazine or send our team to prison for an event. Contact Ashley Smith, our Director of Partnership for more information, ashley@kojministries.org.
Are there specific financial levels?
Any amount of support is appreciated and reaches people with the Gospel. Our magazine costs $1 per issue. The beautiful thing is that each issue passes from hand to hand for years behind the wire. We estimate that each copy reaches ten lives in the first year of distribution with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is 10 cents to impact one life!
Here are other examples of how certain levels of support help our ministry:
- $500 annually prints and distributes one case of Victorious Living (95 copies) each quarter to a prison or jail.
- $1000 sponsors a team member to attend one of our national prison events.
